I haven't had any decent sleep since yesterday. I went to this company yesterday to apply for work. In a breeze, I passed the inital interview, the skills test, and (I think) the final interview with the HR Manager (I suppose he is the one). After the interview, which wasn't well in my own standards, I was told that I still have to take this technical course/exam. I was quite disappointed because I knew I answered all the technical questions correctly, except for all the questions about Macintosh! What the fuck? I don't know anything about Mac! I used it once last year when I tried out for a part-time job in a photo company and it made a complete idiot out of myself.
About the job, I'm not sure if I'm going to take it. Here are the reasons:
1. First reason is that the workplace is located in Ortigas. If I'll be working graveyard again, I can probably still bring a car. Thing is, I'm tired of working graveyard. If I will be assigned in the morning shift, commuting will be more tiring for me and I also find it unsafe.
2. I still have to find out how much they're going to pay me for my salary. If it's just the same shit that I'll be getting (although I'm sure they will have additional allowances and bigger Night Differential pay) I may not take it right away. I hope they'll consider paying me my salary expectation I've written in their form. And in relation to my first reason, the travel allowance should be enough to pay for my transportation.
3. Quite hesitant to go back to the call center industry. The work I'm currently into is less stressful than what Technical Support Representatives working in a call center are getting. They get shouted at, they hear bludgeoning insults until their ears bleed and all they can say in return is "I understand your situation and I'm very sorry if you feel that way." Bullshit! In our company, if we get bashed by our callers, we can report those assholes to our superiors. At least something can be done.
4. We only have two sets of rest days: Thursday-Friday and Saturday-Sunday. In the call center industry, any day can be your rest day, and I hate that!
5. I'm gonna be on my ninth month next week, I was contemplating that I should at least complete a year of my stay. In my resume, my 2 previous jobs are at least a year old. It would've looked better in my resume that I worked years, not months.
6. Our company is still promising. It just turned a year and it is still growing. I am a loyal person and I want to stick to something which has potential. Why leave so early?
The thing is, I can't be loyal for now because my loyalty doesn't pay all the bills I have. We still have issues about not getting allowances and not increasing our Night Differential pay. We know we don't work in a call center but since we operate like one, we are paid like shit compared to those call center people who are earning much more. How long do I have to wait for them to give us the raise we've been waiting for?
It's 6:28pm and I still haven't got enough sleep yet. I haven't drove to Bicol since January but I know I can handle it. I don't feel excited. Maybe things will change when I'm already there, where I can take a dip in one of their hot springs and probably get a chance to go to a beach in a nearby island.
I wish nothing bad happens during this trip.
