the Biggest reason why I haven't been blogging for the past couple of weeks....

Yup, I finally got a pocket pc!!! It's a 2nd-hand ASUS A620BT I bought from an acquaintance and I bought it for a very good deal! It was just used for almost a month but it still looks very good, and sexy as well. I think the seller had to cancel one of his appointments just to meet up with me and give me the unit. I was all smiles after holding my very first pocket pc.
You guys might be wondering why I got this instead of the Dell Axim X30 which I posted a month ago. What happened was, the person who's supposed to sell me that X30 fuckin' screwed me up! He said he fell in love with the device. I could understand that, who would not fall in love with the Axim X30! But the thing is, I've been bugging him for more than a month that I am a very serious buyer, even declaring to everyone that it will be my next pocket pc. If he doesn't want to sell it, he could've just told me way ahead of time, right? I even called and sent him text messages that I'm sure to get it from him. I know already had the strange feeling that this might be bogus, but it hasn't reached up to that reality until a week before the date of our transaction. He may have said that I will know by August 31 but I doubted it. It's already September 2 and he didn't even send me an SMS. He should be thankful that I am not the webmaster of airfagev, or worse, he's my officemate in Peoplesupport because I will not only ban him from the site, I will beat and crush him to smithereeens!!!
It's a good thing though that the acquaintance who tried to sell me the A620BT before still has the A620BT. Called him up and later met up with him to see the unit. When I held the Asus, I didn't hear angels singing Hallelujah! It didn't shine brightly as if I discovered gold. It was just a pocket pc that I'm holding, not knowing it will be mine in less than 24 hours. After that meeting, I became more restless. I don't wanna be patient anymore to wait and buy a pocket pc that I really want. Something tells me I have to buy the ASUS right away. So I did, and the second look at the pocket pc was much more beautiful than the first time I held it. I noticed it was light and sexy. It may not be an iPAQ, but it is still very sexy for me as it's width is only half an inch. The screen is very good too! Internal memory is quite big plus backup memory in case the battery life went low. It already has built-in bluetooth as the name of the PDA would suggest. The battery life is impressive - I don't have to charge it everyday! And as Carlo Ma. Guerrero, Mr. Pinoy Pocket PC would say, it's a Speed Demon for it can play videos up to 60 frames per second! During the Mobile Pilipinas event, the A620BT was the center of attraction as it played videos flawlessly, making visitors realize the powerful feature of a pocket pc.
My pocket pc worked right away after I bought it. One example: I had to finish an article about airfagev so it can be submitted to m|ph magazine. I was on the road so I had no choice but to write the article straight to my Asus. In an hour's time, the article was completed! Transferred the file to my Tanagirlie and emailed it to Master Rey (webmaster of airfagev).
Would I say I'm happy now? Hell Yeah!!! I've recently bought a 256MB Compact Flash card (bought it at a very good deal too!) and installed all the programs that I need. Games were not installed last week but since I bought this memory card, I've been installing all the games I can find. I even watched a movie on it too, thanks to my friend Doc Arowanaboy! Seems that I need to buy an extra CF card just to store movies... hehehe!

Broke
<sigh> i am so broke! i haven't been this broke for a long time. i am so broke i'm already thinking of selling my TanaGirlie. actually, i was already supposed to post an ad to sell her this afternoon. this situation is making me depressed. the salary i'm earning here in this company is not enough to cover my expenses. i can't wait to get out of this fuckin' company. right now, my teammates are talking about getting other jobs. i'm just keeping quiet about my options.
my dilemna so far is if ever i leave the company, i might not be able to get my 14th month pay. i just wish they can give it to me pro-rated. even if they raise our salaries for a couple of thousand pesos but no allowances and no increase in night differential pay, i'll just tell them to shove it up their arses!

It's Final... Goodbye Safeway
I've just spoken to my manager earlier this evening over a couple of bottles of beer. A decision was already reached. I won't be working with them anymore.

Car Show, XDA2, Wi-Fi

We're here at the World Trade Center for the AUTO SHOP 2004 Car Show. My friend, DJ Matt Montoya of Team 77 Racing (www.team77racing.com) has an entry in the competition for the best car display. A lover of classic cars, his entry is the most visited among all the cars that are displayed here. It's a PORSCHE SPYDER! Just look at the picture and you'll know why.
Our group, Pinoy Windows Mobile (www.pinoywindowsmobile.com) has a booth here, exhibiting the latest mobile devices like the O2 XDA2. I had the privelege to use the XDA2 since Wednesday I liked it at first, but I began to feel the frustration when it started doing hard resets due to simple reasons. I had to active-synch it several times just to fill the xda my PIM data that I need.
I'm still only a week old when it comes to using wi-fi in my ASUS A620BT, and I felt l've been using it for months. Man! The whole World Trade is wired! Wi-Fi providers lead by Airborne Access (www.airborneaccess.net) provided free wi-fi access to everyone. Whichever area I go, I still get connected! In fact, the whole blog was written on my ASUS via Wi-Fi!

First Day
My first day in my new office turned out quite well. As you have read my previous post about my resignation in Safeway, I have accepted a job as a Technical Support Representative at West Contact Services. Yes, it's back to the call center industry for me. This is already my 4th job and I just wished that I had a long rest before accepting this new work. But as usual, I can't afford this luxurious rest period yet because I have a timetable to follow until mid-2005. My objective for now is to earn much money and put most of it in my savings. By next year, I have to go abroad so I can earn more, and I don't mind earning 25k-30k equivalent a month as long as accommodations are free.
About the new company, my "aura meter" did not detect anything positive nor negative vibrations in the office. When I started working in Peoplesupport, everything that surrounded me that time are positive elements. I felt at ease there. I couldn't forget the first months I started working in the company. I just purely loved it! Then I went to Safeway, at first I felt very uneasy about the building, the office and the people. My "aura meter" detected something negative but I chose to ignore it. After working for a couple of months, everything went negative which lead to my resignation. Now, the meter is dead in the middle. I'm not suppose to expect anything but a part of me wants to feel the same kind of enthusiasm the first day I trained at Peoplesupport. It didn't happen that way so I don't know how to feel about it. But I have to live with it because I don't think I want to go to any other job for now. I have to be contented where I am currently at.

2nd Week
The first week at work turned out to be better than I've expected. I felt adjusted to the new company and I hope I'm gonna like it. I think everyone now feels comfortable with each other.
This week will focus on production training and I hope to do well. I need to refresh my knowledge about dial up connections because this is the one that we are going to support when we go live 2 weeks from now. Anyway, I feel bored and I want to go home. Not in the mood to write anything...
